Five Weekend Vacation Destinations Sure to Relax, Rejuvenate and Refresh Your Perspective
Ahhhh, it’s summer. And that means getaways, vacations and holidays. Summer is the best time of year to relax and rejuvenate. But in this crazy world of 24-hour communication, we aren’t always able to take a week or two away from the job. So, if you’ve been longing for a vacation, but only have Saturday and Sunday to spare, we’re here to help with our five favorite summer weekend vacation destinations.
1. Sedona, AZ
Whether your version of an amazing vacation includes hiking, meditating, relaxing, shopping or star gazing,
Sedona has it all. Reconnect with nature and your higher self on a vortex hike. Or relax your mind and body with a yoga class and meditation session with a view of Sedona’s famed red rocks. Whatever you decide, we’re sure after two days in Sedona, you will feel like a whole new you!
Tip: Stargaze with an expert. The night sky in Sedona is incredibly dark allowing you to see exponentially more stars than in the city.
2. Austin, TX
You may have vacationed in Texas, but let’s face it; Austin isn’t Texas. Though their motto may be “Keep
Austin Weird,” we like to think of them more as a city that plays by their own rules. Music and socializing is the name of the game in Austin (ACL, SXSW, Austin Reggae Festival, etc.). So if music, culture and fun are your thing, Austin is your weekend vacation destination!
Tip: Bring your dog. Austin is an incredibly dog-friendly city, from the hotels to the restaurants. No need to leave Fido at home!
3. San Diego, CA
Just outside of San Diego in the city of Carlsbad is one of the coolest weekend retreats ever –
The Chopra Center for Wellbeing. Founded in 1996 by Deepak Chopra, this retreat center aims to connect mind, body and spirit to help you improve your health, decrease your stress levels, relax, rejuvenate and improve your life as a whole.
Tip: Sign up for The Chopra Center newsletter for special pricing and discounts on events and programs.
4. Nashville, TN
Whether you are a history buff or hipster,
Nashville has it all! A perfect blend of “a little bit country” and “a little bit rock-and-roll,” Nashville has grown to be one of the best foodie towns in America. Surround yourself with history, like at the Country Music Hall of Fame or the Grand Ole Opry, shop the local boutiques or take in a show. Whatever you do, we know you’ll have fun!
Tip: Visit the full-scale replica of the
Greek Pantheon. Yes, it really is a thing.
5. Portland, OR
Portland has really made a name for itself in recent years. From micro-brews to indie bands to some of the prettiest nature in America,
Portland is a wonderful weekend vacation destination that’s sure to have you feeling like you’re a thousand miles from home.
Tip: Rent or bring a bike. Portland has been named The Best Bike City in America.
