New Year Resolutions
This Year, Make Only One Resolution: To Take Care of You
Every year, we make New Year’s resolutions. Whether it is to go to the gym more, lose weight, get organized, or have an adventure – we start the year off full of the hope and promise, and by February most, if not all, of our year’s goals seem to go out the window.
The question, is why? Why is it that we have difficulty keeping promises to ourselves? Maybe it’s that we take on too much or our goals are just too unrealistic to achieve in a short time and we grow bored and impatient. Well, this year, let’s all agree to make one New Year resolution that’s easy to do and easy to achieve: to take better care of yourself - mind, body, and soul – and let’s strive for progress, not perfection. Here are a few ways to do just that with some of the top resolutions made each year.
Get fit. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean to go to the gym, or to lose weight. It simply means to be healthy. Being fit can mean going for a morning walk or run each day, making healthier food choices, completing a morning routine, or taking a yoga class. Whatever it means to you - get fit in 2015 for a healthier lifestyle.
Maintain a youthful appearance. Keeping your skin healthy, fresh, and youthful will make you feel young and beautiful all year long. Washing your face twice daily and using the right regimens and moisturizers will make all the difference. It is a resolution that is easy to uphold and will allow you to feel good about yourself while benefiting your skin too!
Create a new look. More than likely, there is a wardrobe, style of makeup, or a hairstyle that you have been dying to try for a long time. Why not go for it? This year let yourself feel beautiful. Buy products that are all natural to maintain healthy hair and skin, and give yourself the makeover of your dreams. You deserve it.
Challenge Yourself. Whether it is intellectually or physically, challenge yourself this year. Take a yoga class, meditate, speak in front of a crowd. Conquering a fear and challenging yourself to try something new will leave you feeling accomplished and powerful.
Go somewhere you have never been before. It has been said that visiting a new place will expand the mind and allow you to embrace different perspectives. New experiences often shape us into a better version of ourselves. Pick a place on the map and go!
Clean house. Not just the typical spring-cleaning! Get a fresh start this year by ridding yourself of all toxins and extra materials. Those that do not benefit you or support you, bad habits, all the way down to those clothes you can’t seem to get rid of. A deep cleaning and organization in all parts of your life will leave you feeling as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders and de-stress you in ways you never thought possible.
Remain true to yourself. As time passes it can be difficult to balance work, social life, family and everything in between. However, despite how crazy everything can be, it is always important to stick to your guns and remember to put yourself first.
Any of these New Year resolutions will allow you to better yourself as an individual and leave you feeling confident in 2015. Whatever your New Year resolution may be, stick to it – and if you fall off at any time, don't let that due you in. Remember that in every moment is another opportunity to begin again.
