Keeping Skin In the Glow
4 Tips To Keep Skin Hydrated This Season
We are officially into the fall season, and though we are excited about chunky sweaters, scarves and boots, we’re not excited for the loss of moisture that leads to dry, dull-looking skin.
Now that the temperatures are dropping, that means the humidity levels will, too. The dry air will leave our skin parched and quenching for moisture. The colder temperatures also cause us to turn up the heaters, which also strips our skin of needed moisture. This is why the fall and winter months bring upon the driest of dry skin (hello dry, winter skin!) causing skin to appear dull and lackluster.
So, to help you prepare for the seasons ahead, we’re sharing with you some of our favorite tips to keep your skin in the glow all fall and winter long.
- Stay hydrated. There’s nothing that works as well as H2O to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized. We get it, a pumpkin spice latte always sounds good, but a little secret – they aren’t doing your skin (or body) any favors. Stick to the always-reliable water to keep you and your skin hydrated during these dry months - the 80/20 rule is a good one to apply here.
- Sleep with a humidifier. During the colder months we have our heaters cranked up causing our skin to dry out. To reverse this, try sleeping with a humidifier at night. The mist from the humidifier will help to replace lost moisture back in your skin, leaving you with a fresh dewy look the next morning.
- Don’t wait to moisturize. Make sure to add your moisturizer immediately after showering. Pat your face dry with a clean towel so that is still slightly damp. Immediately apply a rich moisturizer, like Stemology’s Cell Renew Moisture Complete, to seal in the moisture.
- Avoid long hot showers. When the weather gets cooler we want to warm up in nice, long, hot shower, but you won’t be doing your skin any favors. The longer you stay in the hot shower, the more you are drying out your skin. Try to shower and bathe quickly in lukewarm water. Your skin will thank you!
If you follow these four easy tips, restoring and retaining much needed moisture in the skin is a no-brainer – and you’ll keep your skin in the glow throughout the drier seasons.
