Breaking Down StemCore-3™
The Basic Science Behind Stem Cell Skincare
There are certain words that always elicit a bit of buzz and even confusion. Stem cells fit into that category. It is understandable, therefore, that a proprietary stem cell technology like StemCore-3™ would also raise some questions. So what exactly is the technology behind StemCore-3? Let’s take a moment to break down the science behind Stemology’s proprietary human adult stem cell skincare.
It was 2008 when Stemology co-founder Dr. Hal Simeroth saw firsthand how adult human stem cells could be used to heal a diabetic’s deteriorating eye condition, and set out with a team of researchers to reinvent the science of skincare. His efforts resulted in the creation of StemCore-3, the revolutionary peptide formula behind Stemology Skincare. What makes these products so pioneering? For the first time ever, Stemology created products that used human and plant stem cell derivatives together to help optimize the skin’s production of elastin, collagen and epidermal cells.
StemCore-3 is made of three parts including proteins (growth factors and cytokinal peptides) that come from adult human stem cells, botanical extracts and plant stem cell extracts. When activated together in a topical product, they work in tandem to stimulate cellular growth in a way that cannot be replicated with only one growth factor. Most skincare products with stem cell technology, typically only contain epidermal growth factor, or EGF, and as a result of this singular focus, cannot work as effectively as Stemology products containing the triple-action of StemCore-3.
Adult human mesenchymal (MSC) stem cell derivatives have been shown topically in research studies to encourage collagen production and skin growth of the epidermis and dermis.
“The application of topical growth factors (from MSC) stimulate the repair of facial photo-aging resulting in new collagen synthesis, epidermal thickening, and the clinical appearance of smoother skin with less visible wrinkles.” Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, “Cell-Based Cytokine Therapy for Skin Rejuvenation,”November 2010.
BioScreen Clinical Services also conducted tests of StemCore-3, demonstrating how products with this technology can effectively fight the signs of aging. The unique botanical extract stimulates skin growth factors and interacts with the skin to diminish the appearance of wrinkles. At the same time, the plant stem cell extract ignites the stem cells in the skin to help achieve a more youthful glow. Stemology is dedicated to transparency around our products, ingredients and the research behind them. To be clear, only human adult mesenchymal stem cells are used in Stemology products. Stemology products contain renewing peptides that are emitted from stem cells – not actual DNA or stem cells. And Stemology will never use embryonic stem cells or neonatal male foreskin tissue in any products or for research in the laboratory. Human fetal tissue will also never be a source for stem cells in any of our products. It is an incredibly involved and costly process to harvest these stem cells, a technique that is done in an FDA approved laboratory. But in the end Stemology products containing StemCore-3 – and the results they achieve – cannot be replicated.
